Podocarpus nivalis, Alpine Totara, is a hardy New Zealand native groundcover conifer valued for its dense, spreading habit and excellent performance in harsh alpine and exposed environments. It forms a mounding shrub that is ideal for groundcover, rock gardens, banks, and erosion control where reliable coverage and toughness are required. Naturally adapted to wind, frost, snow, and poor soils, it establishes well in difficult sites and requires very little maintenance once established.
