Orari Nursery is a South Canterbury based wholesale and retail nursery specialising exclusively in New Zealand native plants.
For many years we've supplied quality native plants to customers throughout New Zealand, supporting everything from farm shelter belts and riparian planting to large-scale environmental restoration, landscaping projects and home gardens. Whether it's a single backyard project or thousands of plants for a restoration programme, we're proud to make native planting accessible to everyone.
Today we continue that tradition under the leadership of General Manager Stacey Smith and a dedicated team passionate about growing strong, healthy plants.
Our experienced team brings generations of horticultural knowledge and genuine care to every plant we grow. Many of our staff have been with Orari Nursery for years, united by a shared commitment to producing healthy plants and providing knowledgeable, friendly service.
Every plant is grown with New Zealand conditions in mind. Rather than producing soft greenhouse-grown plants, we focus on raising hardy stock capable of thriving once planted in the landscape.
We believe every native plant plays a role in creating healthier environments. From restoring waterways and improving biodiversity to establishing shelter belts, preventing erosion and creating habitats for native wildlife, our plants help strengthen landscapes across Aotearoa.
Alongside our extensive range of native plants, we also stock tree guards, fertilisers and quality gardening products to give every planting project the best possible start.
Whether you're a council, contractor, farmer, landscaper or home gardener, we're committed to providing expert advice, quality plants and reliable service that you can depend on.

Orari Nursery has been helping grow New Zealand landscapes for many years, supplying quality native plants for restoration, conservation and rural planting projects throughout the country. The nursery was led for many years by respected owner Graham Pullman, whose passion for native plants and commitment to quality helped establish Orari Nursery as a trusted supplier across New Zealand.
In 2025, following Graham's passing, the nursery entered a new chapter under the leadership of General Manager Stacey Smith.
Having worked alongside Graham and completed formal nursery training under his guidance, Stacey continues to build on the values that shaped the business: quality plants, knowledgeable service and a genuine commitment to New Zealand's environment.
Garden Gloves and Orari Nursery have proudly operated alongside one another since 1993. In 2025, the two businesses were brought together under the Orari Nursery name, expanding our range of products while continuing the same commitment to quality, value and customer service.
Supported by an experienced team of horticulturalists and nursery staff, Orari Nursery continues to invest in expanding production, improving services and supplying hardy native plants for projects of every size across New Zealand.
Today, our mission remains simple:
To grow quality New Zealand native plants that restore landscapes, strengthen biodiversity and help create healthier environments for generations to come.
