Cordyline australis, commonly known as the Cabbage Tree or Tī Kōuka, is one of New Zealand's most recognisable native trees. It forms a strong upright trunk topped with clusters of long, sword-like green leaves, creating a striking architectural feature in gardens and landscapes. Extremely hardy and adaptable, Cabbage Tree thrives in coastal, inland, wet and exposed conditions. It is widely used for riparian planting, wetland restoration, shelter belts, lifestyle blocks and native gardens. Mature trees produce large fragrant flower clusters followed by berries that attract native birds.
