Carmichaelia odorata is a hardy native broom found naturally throughout much of New Zealand. Its distinctive green, almost leafless stems carry out photosynthesis, allowing it to thrive in exposed, dry conditions where many other plants struggle. During spring, it produces clusters of small fragrant white flowers that attract native pollinators. Compact and resilient, it is well suited to restoration projects, native gardens, shelter planting and erosion-prone sites.
