Austroderia richardii, commonly known as Toe Toe, is an iconic New Zealand native grass admired for its graceful arching foliage and spectacular creamy-white flower plumes that appear from late summer through autumn. Often mistaken for pampas grass, true New Zealand Toe Toe is softer in appearance, non-invasive, and plays an important role in native landscapes and restoration projects. Toe Toe is an excellent choice for riparian planting, erosion control, shelter belts, and large-scale revegetation projects. Its extensive root system helps stabilise banks and slopes, while the dense foliage provides valuable habitat for native wildlife.
